Yet in this fraud trial, these women all claimed they believed the porn videos they shot, which were published among GirlsDoPorn’s library of hundreds of porn flicks viewed collectively over one billion times, would never get posted online. The sex for the video shoots was rough and caused many victims pain, and in some cases bleeding. In response, Garcia and others told the victims that they had to continue and finish the videos. Victims were also often paid significantly less than originally promised with Garcia and others would citing a tattoo, a mole, or some other perceived “imperfection” to pay the victim less.

• “The videos went viral amongst every person in the victims’ network, causing them to become pariahs in their own communities. Victims were ridiculed and ostracized by friends, classmates, teachers, professors, principals, clergy members, and family.”
• He did the same when questioned about the women being plied with marijuana and/or alcohol before signing their contracts, despite footage being played in court – of videos he had filmed – showing drug paraphernalia being laid out on hotel counters and tables.
• She is now shining a light on the sinister reality of pornography, and how it is so often made — a quest born out of her honest and raw recollection of the night she was so violently abused; she suffered significant vaginal tearing and even tried — unsuccessfully — to flee the hotel completely naked.
• Pratt, meanwhile, began to focus more and more on “big picture” stuff, trying to figure out ways to keep the site stocked with attractive young talent, and promotional tools to get the name of the site out into the world-at-large.
• That scandal would actually be repeated the following year when an additional Miss Teen USA candidate was outed as having appeared in a GirlsDoPorn video; like the prior contestant, she too was stripped of her title and eliminated from all of the Miss Teen USA material (websites, promos, etc.).
• “This defendant lured one victim after another with fake modeling ads, false promises and deceptive front companies, ultimately devolving to threats to coerce these women into making sex videos,” said Acting U.S. Attorney Randy Grossman.

• Garcia and other co-conspirators used aliases and companies with misleading names to ensure that the victims could not discover that they were behind GirlsDoPorn and GirlsDoToys.
• Four of the website’s other employees have pleaded guilty to a variety of felonies.
• Those who spoke at Garcia’s sentencing told harrowing stories of assault, coercion and brutality during the hours-long shoots, when many wept, bled, vomited, cried out in pain or begged for the filming to stop — scenes that were carefully edited from the final video.
• Once the women arrived in San Diego to shoot, they said, they were lured to a hotel room, where they were plied with marijuana and alcohol.
• However, Girls Do Porn distributed the videos after they were shot, and they appeared on popular porn websites.

It would later be learned that they didn’t have any of the necessary permits to film adult content, and often smuggled the film and sound equipment to the hotel room in suitcases and other large luggage containers. A short time later, she received a written response from an individual calling himself “Jonathan N” (who responded using the email address). In this email, Jane was offered $4,000 for a first photoshoot – just regular modeling, mind you – but was told that she could be paid an additional $1,000 for an additional video shoot…

Finding and erasing every video, screenshot, or repurposed clip from the internet will still be a challenging task; but with the judge’s ruling, the women now have the right and agency to do so, which is a significant step. Attorneys for the men could not immediately be reached, but in a statement to Courthouse News Service, they said their clients “are focused on defending themselves against the criminal charges.” An 18-year-old testified that she couldn’t move back to her small hometown in Canada because people had been sending the video around and posting screenshots to Instagram.

Garcia and other co-conspirators used aliases and companies with misleading names to ensure that the victims could not discover that they were behind GirlsDoPorn and GirlsDoToys. Garcia admitted that he and co-defendant Michael Pratt were the lead recruiters for GDP and GDT. Garcia and Pratt created Craigslist advertisements, along with fake websites and email addresses consistent with the websites to cause their victims to believe that they were applying to work asclothed models. Only after the victims responded to the advertisements would Garcia and Pratt disclose that they were actually seeking women for pornographic video shoots.

Pratt, Garcia, and Wolfe, operating in San Diego, ran adult websites through a series of overseas shell companies and defrauded hundreds of women over the course of more than a decade. At trial, the plaintiffs proved all thirteen defendants were alter egos of each other and joint venturers in the fraudulent scheme. The GirlsDoPorn and GirlsDoToys websites generated millions of dollars in revenue from this scheme.
